The Enterprising Moms

A large component of The Enterprising Moms mission it to contribute to the greater good through ongoing volunteer and environmental efforts and activities and through charitable contributions. This spirit is integrated into all that we do. And, many of our member businesses are rooted in similar principles. As our organization grows and evolves, so to will our contributions.

The following are organizations and efforts to which we have lent our support. We hope that you might consider lending yours as well. And, if you do, please let them know that The Enterprising Moms sent you!

• The American Heart Association through TEM Member Tammy Goddard and her online bookstore
  Tammy, who underwent her 4th heart surgery last year and has learned that her children may also have heart issues, has launched a new online bookstore to raise money to help fund research through American Heart. Half of her profits will go directly to the organization with the hope that, as Tammy said, "all this money will go to some fabulous and groundbreaking research so if in the future my kids need anything - it won't be as traumatic as it has been for me." • Alexandria/Arlington Coalition for the Homeless (AACH)
  For our Second Annual TEM Summer Social in lieu of a registration fee, participants brought food and dry good donations to support the AACH, which helps the homless rebuild their lives. "AACH works in coordination with public agencies, businesses and community groups to give homeless people the support, shelter, counseling and employment training they need to regain self-sufficiency."

• An Enterprising Exchange: A Networking Event With A Twist
  Bring What You Don't Want. Take What You Do!
  This free family friendly event offered by The Enterprising Moms, is a networking event with a twist and has multiple purposes: it serves to help business owners save money and share resources, to promote reducing, reusing and recycling, and providing a forum in which moms can make connections and build relationships. In celebration of Earth Day and moms supporting moms!
  
  
• New Hope Housing

  This non-profit organization provides homeless families and individuals shelter and tools to build a better life. As the beneficiary of our donation collection at our first Summer Social, New Hope Housing recieved more than 500 diapers, dozens of onesies and sleepers, and oodles of childproofing tools, including outlet covers, door and drawer latches, knob covers and baby gates. And, they're needs are on going. Please take a look to see how you can help.
  
  
• Reach Out and Read ®
  www.ReachOutAndRead.org
  This national non-profit organization promotes early literacy by making books a routine part of pediatric primary care. Our members donated over 50 new and gently used books to the Reach Out and Read program at Fairfax Pediatric Center, part of Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children.

Thanks so much, on behalf of the Reach Out and Read program, for your recent book donation from The Enterprising Moms. We truly appreciate the support. The books were in great shape and perfect for our patients. They have already been put out in the waiting room where our volunteers will use them to read out loud. They will also encourage the children to take one home to enjoy. Thanks again for making books a part of a healthy childhood.
